Edmund F. Kohlberg, longtime Babylon resident, Babylon H.S. graduate, Sector Leader for EYP

Edmund F. Kohlberg, a longtime resident of Babylon, died in Chicoteague, Virginia Oct. 17, 2015. He was 58 years old.

Edmund (Ed) was born on Nov. 21, 1956 and grew up in Babylon, relishing in the 3 “S”s (sun, sand & surf) of the South Shore. After graduating from Babylon High School in 1974, he attended SUNY New Paltz where he met his future wife, Marjorie Geschwind, and graduated with a B.S. in Physics.

Ed and Marjorie were married in Scarsdale on August 1980, and raised Keith and Michelle in Upstate New York. They relocated to McLean, Virginia in 2002.

A Sector Leader for the Federal Government Sector of Einhorn, Yaffee & Prescott Architecture and Engineering firm, Ed began his career at EYP in 1979, and was a board member of the firm from 2001 on. Surrounded and inspired by a creative group of colleagues, he was often heard saying those words that many people simply never say: “I love my job.” And he meant it, said his family.

In addition to meeting the challenges of his career, Ed also met the challenges of life. He was a three-time cancer survivor.

In 2009, he once again “found his beach” on Chicoteague Island, enjoying the company of family and friends, and the island itself.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie, son Keith, daughter Michelle Sanders, son-in-law Audie Sanders, grandson Kameron Sanders, sister Rosanne Kohlberg-Reilly, brother-in-law Neil Geschwind, sister-in-law Sarina Geschwind, cousins Diana Georgia, Ed and Barbara Begley, and nieces Valerie, Abby, Katie, Marilyn, and Gayle.

Friends were received at the Advent Funeral Services 7211 Lee Hwy. Falls Church, Virginia on Fri., Oct. 23, 2015. Funeral services held on the following day.
